Breast Reduction Recovery Time: What to Expect
Breast reduction recovery time varies from patient to patient based on the extent of your breast reduction surgery and your natural healing rate. With that being said, patients typically experience the following during their recovery and after care:
After your breast reduction procedure your incisions will be covered in bandages. Small tubes might be placed in your legs to drain any excess blood or fluid.
You will experience the following:
You may have a several days of discomfort that requires narcotic support. Please take the medication every 4-6 hours while awake for the first 3 days
this may linger for 2-3 weeks with each week showing less swelling/bruising than the previous week
3. ACTIVITY RESTRICTION
You should refrain from stretching the legs, or any heavy lifting/exercise for 6 weeks
If you have a sedentary desk job you can return to work in 5-7 days, if you have an active job we suggest 10 days off of work.
You may return to light cardio exercise in 3 weeks and leg exercises in 6 weeks
